To celebrate World Book Day 2022 – we are sending out 10 golden tickets with our members’ book swaps this week. So – look out for one in your next envelope of books!
If you are one of our lucky readers, then please get in touch with us to get your prize. The winners will get a special book to keep forever and a Reading Chest gift voucher to give to a friend.
World Book Day is all about celebrating books and getting more children enthused about reading. However, some parents are less enthused and associate World Book Day with the stress of producing a fancy dress costume rather than reading.

Embrace World Book Day as an opportunity to read and talk more about books and stories with your children. Discuss your favourite books and characters from your own childhood.
Costumes don’t have to be tricky.

Make the most of onesies that you might have around the house to be different animal characters. Or, go for Roald Dahl old favourites such as Charlie Bucket, Grandma Josephine, Grandpa Jo (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) – suitable tatty clothes and a golden ticket. Other ideas: Harry (Harry and the Bucket full of Dinosaurs) – boy clothes with a bucketful of Dinosaurs;

  • Mr Happy – wear yellow and smile; Little Miss Sunshine – wear yellow, red bows in hair and smile; Mr Bump or Little Miss Whoops – wear blue with a couple of bandages; Mr Forgetful – is a good way out if you get really stuck!
