This book is about
There is a superhero called Hercules and he wasn't scared of anything. He had to complete seven labours (they are a bit like Moshi Monster missions) for the king. He did them all but he kept bringing back disgusting and dangerous things from the missions. The king was getting fed up so he kept sending him on even more missions! When he completed the last mission which was the seventh, the king said he really was the strongest and bravest man in the whole world. There were no princesses in this story though so he didn't get to marry one as a reward. He was just voted strongest and bravest by the king.
The main characters are
Narrator. Hercules. King. Hermes, Messenger of the Gods. Villager. Atlas. Hades, King of the Underworld. Hydra. Cerberus. Lion of Nemea. Cretan Bull. Four Mares of Diomedes.
My favourite part of the book is
When after the first mission the King said for Hercules to go to Argos! Mum says that was a place in long ago Greece and I sort of knew it must be, but it was still really funny to think of Hercules going to the Argos store and ordering a monster to take back to the king!
I also liked the way Hermes and the King kept being disgusted by the things Hercules brought back. It was funny!
I would also like to say
Even though this book tells a story it is actually a play. Mum says it is better to act out plays or at least to read them out loud otherwise you can easily get confused. So me and Mum used some of my toys to be the different characters and Mum was the narrator and I was Hercules, of course! This was lots of fun and we used different voices for the toys to be the different characters. Hermes was timid and a bit whinghy and the king was very posh and a bit snooty. I really liked it!
