Can I buy a subscription as a gift?
Not just yet, sorry! We’re working on a new way to buy a gift subscription, and it’ll be ready in a couple of months. We might be able to help you out directly though, or invite you to test out our new feature, so do get in touch.
Can I read feedback from existing subscribers before joining?
Of course! There are a couple of places you can find reviews and testimonials. We have our own collated set of feedback from the last ten years that’s all published on our website.
You can also see our latest reviews on our Google profile too.
Many parents join after hearing how Reading Chest helped a reluctant reader get going again, or how it kept a book-loving child happily supplied without endless trips to the library.
How can we write a review of a book?
We love for our members to write reviews of the books they read, and we publish them all on the site. Just head to the page for the book you’d like to review (here’s an example book page), then look for the “Write a Review” section at the right of the screen.
Fill out your name, age, and your review of the book, then it’ll be sent to us to publish!
How do I set up a subscription?
Signing up takes just a couple of minutes. Head to our Prices and Packages page, and choose your subscription package. The key differences are:
- Bronze: Swap books once a month, giving you 8 books to read each month.
- Silver: Swap books twice a month, giving you up to 16 books, and also letting you create multiple lists to share with more than one child.
- Gold: Swap books three times a month, giving you up to 24 books, and also letting you create multiple lists to share with more than one child.
Drop in your delivery and payment details, then we’ll set your account up in a few seconds. After that, you need to add a “List” for your child (or children). We just need their name, and the book band they are currently on. Not sure what that is? Our guide on book bands can help, and you can always adjust it later.
Once you’ve signed up, we’ll prepare your first delivery. It includes a welcome pack, a reward chart, stickers, and a hand-picked selection of books to get your child off to a confident start.
How does Reading Chest work?
Reading Chest is a simple, child-friendly way to keep fresh reading material arriving at your doorstep. You choose a plan, pick your child’s reading level, and we send out a bundle of phonics-based reading books by post. We also include star charts, stickers, and activities (as well as certificates as they progress).
When your child has read them, just send them back in the pre-paid envelope and we’ll post out new ones. The frequency you can swap books is based on whether you have a Bronze, Silver, or Gold plan.
There’s no pressure, and no deadlines — just steady reading progress, book by book.
What is the best subscription package for multiple children?
Subscribing to either the Silver or Gold packages allows you to make multiple book lists so that each child can get books at their own reading level and make their own book choices.
They can each progress at their own pace, and we’ll always do our best to balance your shipments and books so that each child has the same number of books at any time.
