CCVC Words List
Our Phonics CCVC word list helps children practise blending words that begin with consonant clusters — like frog, stop and black. These words introduce adjacent consonants at the start, strengthening decoding skills and helping reading sound smoother and more natural.
It’s especially useful for:
- Practising initial blends such as bl-, cl-, dr-, fl-, gr- and st-
- Improving fluency with longer decodable words
- Reducing hesitation when blending tricky clusters
- Supporting spelling through careful sound segmentation
Encourage your child to glide the first two sounds together rather than separating them too sharply. A few focused minutes a day builds confidence surprisingly quickly.
Available in both colour and black and white versions.
