CVC Word Cards
Our CVC word cards focus on three-letter consonant–vowel–consonant words — the building blocks of early reading. With over 85 decodable words included (and 14 cards per page), they give children plenty of practice blending sounds smoothly from left to right.
These cards are especially useful for:
- Strengthening blending skills with fully decodable words
- Building reading fluency through repetition
- Boosting confidence with words children can successfully decode
- Playing quick games like matching, sorting, or timed “read and flip” challenges
Use them in short bursts — lay out a small stack, encourage your child to “say the sounds, then blend”, and celebrate the wins. Mastering CVC words gives children the solid foundation they need before moving on to longer or trickier patterns.
Available in both colour and black and white versions.

CVCC add-a-sound
Take a simple CVC word like "cat" and add a sound to the end — "cats", "camp". A small change that opens up a lot of new words.
Silly sentence builder
Pick word cards and build the most ridiculous sentence you can. Read it aloud, laugh at it, build another one. The sillier the better.
Word ladder game
Start with one word, change one sound, make a new word. Climb the ladder: cat, bat, sat, set, net. Phonics as a puzzle.
