“th” Words List
Focused practice for one of the trickiest little sounds in phonics.
Our phonics “th” words list gives children plenty of opportunities to read and recognise words with the th sound in different positions. One page focuses on words beginning with th (like thin and three), and the other practises words ending with th (like bath and moth), helping children spot patterns and build confidence.
It’s especially helpful for:
- Practising both voiced and unvoiced “th” sounds
- Strengthening blending and fluency
- Quick daily reading drills (two minutes really does count)
- Building automatic recognition of common “th” words
Use it for short read-throughs, highlight-and-find games, or timed “quick read” challenges to build speed and confidence without pressure.
Available in both colour and black and white versions.

Sound search in books
Pick a sound, open a book and hunt for it on the page. Quick phonics practice that connects to real text rather than a worksheet.
Digraph detective
Pick a digraph — sh, th, ch, ng — and go hunting. How many times can you spot it hiding in words on a page, a sign, a cereal box? Detective hats on.
