My 4-year-old daughter’s reading has improved really quickly with Reading Chest – I am absolutley delighted and have recommended it to all of my friends! Addressing the envelopes to children is a genius idea and she gets really excited when each new envelope arrives! I just have one suggestion, and that is that the first, pink, band is broken down into 2 sections, maybe Pink A and Pink B. Very first books are really really simple, BUT we have been sent all sorts of combinations – eg very simple (Kipper…. Mum….. Dad…. Chip…. Floppy….. Oh no!) at the same time as quite complex Stage 1+ books. For the first few weeks children really do need the very very simple books…. and not being sent with Stage 1+ books. Conversely, now that she has read around 100 books she is handling Stage 1+ very easily….. yet every so often a really basic book arrives which is now a waste of time for her. It hasn’t particularly been a problem as she is bright and I’m a teacher so able to help her easily. But not all children just starting to read will cope with first word-type books along with complex ones all being sent at the same time. Anyway, that aside, THANK YOU for providing a terrific service. I wish I had known about you last year when I was frustrated beyond with my son having 2 stage 1 books a week from his school (which he read in the first evening)- and I couldn’t find any stage 1 books anywhere to ‘top up’ his reading. My daughter definitely has had a head start – she’s almost finished all of the pink books now and LOVES reading, which I am just thrilled about! Many thanks.

I have just cancelled my membership as the boys have now progressed on but I wanted to say how fantastic the service has beenI have used 65 swaps with no problems and my youngest (age 5) has benefited the most and is now reading the same books as his older brother. Many thanks!!

Having access to these levelled reading books has given my daughter the confidence to take on harder and longer texts without being phased or giving up. She has gone from being a very reluctant reader to being a keen reader. She loves the envelope arriving and she loves the non-fiction books which can be difficult to get at the right reading level enabling her to read learn and enjoy them.

My Son started your reading program with myself a few months ago – at that time his reading was quite poor. Now after a little encouragement and assistance from myself (a 20 minute session twice daily on a Sunday) he is the best reader in his class and now manages to finish all 4 books with myself every week. He looks forward to opening his Envelope to see what new books are waiting for him (Smiles all round) Thanks for a precious opportunity to assist him in learning.

I’m writing to let you know your company has been FAB. We have loved being part of it and will likely return at some point. For now thoughwhere we live finally has an access road into town so we can access the free library and my son has moved into year 1 and can now also access the school resource centre. I cancelled my account as now that my daughter is back at schoolthere just isn’t enough time to get through all the books. She thoroughly enjoyed the books and they kept her reading fresh over the summer months. She continues to excel at her reading and is 18 months ahead of her classmates. Thank you Reading Chest!

I have just submitted a request to cancel my account. This is because after many months of happy reading Nicholas and Sophie have reached the point where they are not using their Reading Chest books to their best advantage… We have all enjoyed receiving and reading our Reading Chest Books. Nicholas particularly liked the Ginn Pocket Reads and the Project X non fiction books. Sophie particularly liked the Rigby star and Alphakids books. I liked the experience of discovering amazing reading scheme books about which we might never have known had we stuck with school books alone. Thank you very much indeed!

I cannot recommend Reading Chest highly enough. The books arrive promptly and they are always in great condition. My son loves the star chart. I appreciate being able to choose which schemes we receive. The rare times I had queries and contacted customer service their replies were made quickly and I felt as though you were dealing with real people rather than computers. Hello I would like to thank Reading Chest for making my daughter’s first year of reading both successful and enjoyable. Molly is in receptionand I joined in April when she was on level 4 at school. We used your star charts and aimed to read part ofor a whole book each night. She was determined to gain her 35 stars and most nights she has been happy to read. As a result her teacher described her reading as fantasticand she is now on Oxford level 9 which I see as an amazing progression. Thank you for providing the books for such an inexpensive cost. All books have been in excellent condition and the turnaround is consistently reliable. Thank you again from a very happy parent.

My son has moved up two book bands since joining the Reading Chest a few weeks ago. A huge improvement has been noticed with his reading in school and he is now much more confident. He was aware that he was only on yellow level books and his friends were moving up book bands very quickly. My son is one of the youngest in his year and has a few advanced readers reading ‘junior books’ in the same class. I wanted to help with my son’s reading without confusing him with the wrong type of books. Joining the Reading Chest has really helped me understand the way children learn to read. I just wish I discovered it sooner!

My son is excited every time he gets a new envelope of books and it saves us a fortune! I have just moved him up a level – quite an achievement for him. He is at each level for much longer than other kids so we needs lots of books at each level to keep him interested. We have almost exhausted the local library supply at his level. Plus he’s a boy and its harder to find a good variety of ‘boy’ books. Reading Chest has helped a lot and I am telling friends who have children with special needs about it.

I have just received the latest batch of books. They are always promptly delivered in great condition. Despite my son going to an ‘outstanding’ school your books invariably engage him more. As a family they give us the option of reading more as the books are so inviting. It’s value for money compared to so many other options for spending your money on children!

Great source of books for children learning to read! They are in a FANTASTIC condition seeing is believing makes a change to torn books with pages coming out! It is also wonderful for my daughter Madison to have books which are new and inspire her to read!! As a result she has moved up a level already!!! I also cannot praise you more for the speed in which you turnaround sending out new books!! I can highly recommend you and have done so to all the mums at my daughter’s school!

Just wanted to say what a good idea Reading Chest isit is so needed. Otherwise we get 2 books from school a week which my son does not want to read every day as he’s already read them and he just memorises them so it’s not beneficial. His reading has come on loads since doing this and he is becoming a lot more familiar with new words. He really enjoys choosing which one to read first!

The Reading Chest envelope when it drops on the door makes my children squeal with delight. They rip the envelope open and discuss the books they have received with each other. This innovative idea has increased both of my children’s reading age considerably and encourages them to read different texts along with those provided by school. It’s an incredible service. We really appreciate having books which are not only up to date but also in immaculate condition. A new book is always something special and Reading Chest replicates this feeling. Leo can’t be the only child bringing home books from school which are shabby dirty and frequently mended containing material that is out of date.

I love getting books from the post box. I check after school and can’t wait for more new books. My favourite is Project X. Tiger has a magic watch and I would like one. I love reading chest and can’t wait till I read all the levels. I like my sticker chart and certificates.

I love Reading Chest because the books are sent to my house. I love reading books and my reading is getting better. I love ripping the envelope open and doing book reviews with mummy. I love seeing my book reviews on the website and I love love love being star of the week with my sister.

Since joining the scheme in the summer my 6 year old has made fantastic progress. His school have them in groups for reading so he can only move up when the group does being able to move on at his own pace on this scheme has been of huge benefit to him. He is reading at a much higher level than if he’d just had school books and his enthusiasm for reading is growing and growing. My 3 year old also loves getting books in an envelope with her name on and is enjoying taking her first steps into reading. Even my reluctant 7 year old reads much better with the books that come from you especially as he gets far more non-fiction than he could from school. I will be recommending you to all my friends.

I would just like to say as a newcomer that my two girls love Reading Chest they have returned their first batch of books and can’t wait for more to arrive in the post. They love the sticker chart and especially love typing book reviews. They are so excited that something they have typed will hopefully appear on the internet.

Fantastic idea!! I wish I had found out about the Reading Chest a lot earlier would have saved me a lot of money buying new books. My son loves receiving new books through the post and loves the variety of books that he receives. Kaya especially likes finishing a book and putting on the stickers. Fantastic idea and I highly recommend!

What a terrific idea! We got our first delivery yesterday and the books and stickers were a great success with my 5-year old reluctant reader! I wonder if you are planning to add more schemes – Oxford Songbirds would be great for example. Also would be nice to be able to prioritize the schemes or even the books within the schemes – just a suggestion 🙂

The Reading Chest service has been fantastic in allowing my son to receive books he doesn’t have access to at school and his reading has really improved in just a couple of months. Great customer service too!

I think that Reading Chest is a brilliant idea and my son has benefited a lot from reading each day in the summer holidays. One suggestion – it would be really useful to be able to download a list of the books he has read between certain dates so that I can let his school know which books he has read over the holidays. Although both my children enjoy looking at books and being read to they are reluctant readers and easily turned off by books at too hard a reading level. Having spent several hours in libraries trying unsuccessfully to find suitable books I was delighted to discover Reading Chest.

The Reading Chest is such a clever idea 😉 my son is really enjoying receiving the books specially addressed to him and it’s a great motivating factor for finishing the next set! We use and love the chart and stickers- thank you!

What a good idea I think Reading Chest is it’s great to keep up my son’s reading especially over the 8wks holiday and with books that are within his school’s reading scheme. Having been a teacher for years I have seen the difference it makes to keep up the reading practice and I will definitely spread the word to the other mums.

We think the concept is absolutely brilliant and my 5 year old just loves getting his new books in the post!
