This book is about
When a mother is going to have a baby, her husband has to steal lettuce at night from the next door neighbour, Ma Gothel, because they are too poor to buy any.
Ma Gothel finds out and says that they have to give her their baby in return for taking the lettuce. She names the baby Rapunzel.
Rapunzel plays with friends from the village. Ma Gothel moves Rapunzel to a high tower and locks her in because she does not want her to play with the village children.
Ned (one of Rapunzel's friends from the village) finds her when he is riding his horse in the forest. He sees Ma Gothel climbing up Rapunzel's long hair to get into the tower and copies her.
Ma Gothel finds out that someone has been visiting Rapunzel and cuts off her hair.
Rapunzel has to make a choice about whether to stay with Ma Gothel or leave with Ned.
The main characters are
Rapunzel, Ned and Ma Gothel.
My favourite part of the book is
When Ned finds Rapunzel at the tower.
I would also like to say
I think the author has re-written this fairy tale in his own words.
