What's the book about?

Ant and his friends decide to join a charity race, and he comes up with a clever “micro-training” plan to get ready. He studies how running works, designs his own practice course, and even prepares for rainy weather so he won’t slip in the mud. During the big race, Ant’s careful planning and steady pace help him face tricky conditions and show that thinking ahead can make running even more fun.

This book is about
Ant and his friends see a poster for a charity fun-run. They decide to take part in it. At Ant's home, he reads a book about The Science of Running. He decides to make a running course to train on. He checks the weather forecast for the race day and it will be rainy, so he puts drawing pins on his trainers to help their grip. When the race starts, everyone starts to run fast, but Ant goes slowly so that he does not run out of energy. There is heavy rain during the race and some people get stuck or slow down, apart from Ant because he has drawing pins on his trainers to help his grip. Ant wins the race!

The main characters are
Ant.

My favourite part of the book is
When Ant built the running course in his bedroom.

I would also like to say
There was a person dressed as a chicken in the race.
