The book tells you about the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. The people all needed to live near a river because they needed water for crops and animals.

I liked the picture of the Roman building on page 29.

There is a language called hieroglypics that was used in Ancient Egypt and was made by using pictures instead of letters.
