What's the book about?
Danny’s grandad is in hospital, and Danny has a very important job: he must watch the sky and write down the exact time Grandad’s special racing pigeon, Goldie, comes home from a big race. This book is about
In the book, Goldie, the racing pigeon, does not return after a race. Danny´s Grandad is in hospital after having had a heart attack. Danny tells a lie that the racing pigeon had come home at 3 o´clock, although she is still lost. He lies because he does not want Grandad to have another heart attack.
The pigeon has actually broken it´s leg. Danny climbs the quarry wall and finds the pigeon. He tries to mend the pigeon´s leg. He manages to do it and the pigeon can fly again.
The main characters are
Goldie (the pigeon), Danny and his Grandad.
My favourite part of the book is
Grandad returns home from the hospital and see Goldie fly.
I would also like to say
The author lives in County Durham and one day had found a lost racing pigeon. It flew away before she could catch it. She wondered what had happened to it and this gave her the idea for writing this book.
