How does a gift certificate work?

Choose a plan and how many months you’d like to give, then pay once. We’ll email you a printable certificate straight away, with the child’s name, your message and a unique gift code.
Print it out to pop in a card, or simply forward the email on. There’s nothing recurring for you to pay.

Their grown-up heads to readingchest.co.uk/redeem, enters the gift code and sets up their account, including their child’s book band. We’ll usually get the first books out the same day.
Which plan should I choose?

Every plan lets the child borrow 8 books at a time, matched to their reading level. The difference is how often they can swap them: once a month on Bronze, twice a month on Silver, and three times a month on Gold.
Bronze is a lovely place to start. If they’re a keen reader who gets through books quickly, Silver or Gold means they’ll never be short of something new.

Gift codes can be redeemed any time within 12 months of purchase, so there’s no rush. The expiry date is printed on the certificate.

Nothing is charged for the gift months. The card is there so their membership can carry on smoothly afterwards if they’d like it to, without any break in their child’s books.

Their membership carries on at the normal monthly price for their plan. We’ll email them before the first payment is due as a reminder.
If they’d rather not continue, they just cancel and send their books back before that date, and there’s nothing more to pay.

Of course! Ask them to email the gift code to help@readingchest.co.uk and we’ll add the gift months to their existing membership.

If the gift hasn’t been redeemed yet, we can refund it within 14 days of purchase. Just email help@readingchest.co.uk. Once a gift has been redeemed, we’re not able to refund it.

It should arrive within a few minutes of paying, so do check your spam folder first. If it’s still not there, email help@readingchest.co.uk and we’ll send it again.
