What's the book about?

Charlie and Alice go on a journey to find Charlie’s mum on the mainland, but things don’t turn out quite how he hoped. After their visit, Charlie learns that he won’t be going back to live with her for a while. With Alice and his caring foster family on the island, he starts to see that he is safe, loved, and has a good life where he is.
